Overview 
The Summer Meals Driver reports to the Programs and Services department. This position supports the Summer Meals Program through delivery of meals from the FBSJ facility and/or the fresh meal catering site to partner sites for the entirety of the program, as well as documenting delivery and collection as needed for the duration of its 2026 run. This position works closely with other part time and seasonal staff to accomplish all delivery, distribution and tracking associated with Food Bank Summer Meals service, compliance, and reporting.  (2 positions offered.)

This is a full-time, in-person, temporary position beginning June 8 and continuing through August 28, 2026. Workdays are Monday – Friday, approximate hours 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Unpaid time-off requests evaluated on a case-by-case basis. The pay rate is $20/hr.

Specific Responsibilities 
The Summer Meals Driver will work closely with the Summer Meals program team to ensure all deliveries occur safely and on schedule.
  • Contribute with other staff members to maintaining the orderliness of all locations where product is stored and staged
  • Load vehicles and deliver meals to partner sites
  • Offload product in a safe manner
  • Obtain signed Bill of Lading/Invoice from each delivery made and return the to the Summer Meals program team
  • Immediately report performance issues observed/experienced with any type of FB vehicle or truck
  • Assist with duties of order puller as needed to fulfill Summer Meals Program deliveries
  • Assist with pick-ups of meal cases and crates from partner sites as needed
  • Perform other duties as requested

Qualifications and education requirements 
  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience 2 years minimum; experience driving a small box truck and/or commercial vans preferred
  • Exemplary customer service skills 
  • Strong time-management skills 
  • Must have valid driver’s license (NOT provisional, temporary or junior) and at least 3 years of driving experience
  • Exclusions: to apply for this position you may NOT have:
    • More than three moving violations within the past two years
    • More than three accidents in the past two years
    • More than two moving violations in the past year
    • More than two accidents in the past year
    • A conviction for driving while intoxicated or “under the influence” (DWI or DUI) within the past five years
    • A violation or suspension for texting or handheld phone use, or “distracted driving” within the past two years
    • Alcohol or Drug Offenses
    • Felony committed with a motor vehicle
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite a plus
  • Experience working in food insecurity or related non-profit environment a plus 
  • Any offer of employment is conditioned on your ability to be covered under the Food Bank’s vehicle insurance
