Job Summary: 
The Health and Wellness Youth Program Associate will support the development and delivery of programming that promotes health and wellness among youth. The Health and Wellness Youth Program Associate is supervised by the Health and Wellness Senior Manager and will be responsible for delivery of programs at Food Bank of South Jersey (FBSJ) service sites throughout Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Salem counties.



This position will cover an anticipated leave of absence and is temporary.

The Youth Program Associate must be fluent in English. Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred. Youth program activities are held in person during the day, evenings, and some weekends. Availability is required during the day, one evening per week, and one Saturday per month. The Youth Program Associate must be able to travel consistently to our main site in Pennsauken, NJ and to activity sites located throughout Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Salem counties.  



Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Execute health and wellness youth programming and activities within the FBSJ target areas 
  • Lead recruitment and outreach efforts for youth and their parents 
  • Track youth activity sign-ups and registrations 
  • Coordinate youth advisory council activities by leading meetings, recording attendance and tracking stipend disbursement   
  • Assist in orienting new youth advisory council members and their parents  
  • Assist in training Nutrition Assistants, youth volunteers and youth interns in the delivery of health and wellness programming 
  • Maintain and track cooking equipment, educational materials and incentives  
  • Maintain paper files and database for accurate recordkeeping and timely reporting 
  • Develop educational tools, including PowerPoint presentations and flyers 
  • Identify health and wellness education resources and materials 
  • May assist with class scheduling and staffing 
  • May assist with food and supply ordering, receiving, sorting and delivery 
  • May attend training for program and professional development 
  • Local travel within the FBSJ service area is required  
Work on special projects and other duties as assigned for the Health and Wellness Department.

  • Comfortable working with and can effectively communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and opinions  
  • Ability to safely lift 35 pounds  
  • Ability to use personal vehicle to travel and transport equipment, food and class materials 

Qualification and Experience:  
  • College degree in human services, health, nutrition, education, or related area required 
  • Experience working with youth required 
  • Experience working with diverse groups required 
  • Experience and comfort with using online platforms to meet, present and teach  
  • Knowledge of office management and proficiency in administrative tasks  
  • Clean driver’s license  
  • Access to reliable transportation and ability to carry and transport equipment and supplies 
  • Experience and comfort in working in a nonprofit environment  
  • Knowledge of common adult and child learning theories/models preferred 
  • Knowledge of common behavior change theories/models preferred 
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
