Job Summary:
The Bilingual Outreach Coordinator for SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) is responsible for the implementation of the SNAP Outreach program in Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Salem Counties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Bilingual SNAP Outreach Coordinator will provide information about the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and offer application assistance to individuals and families. Under the senior manager’s supervision, they will work as a team member to achieve the goals of the Food Bank of South Jersey and the state of New Jersey by growing community engagement through strategic public education and advocacy.
Assist clients individually with pre-screening, SNAP application submission, document submission, and answer questions related to SNAP.
Develop and deliver presentations about SNAP to a variety of audiences to promote and inform the community about SNAP.
Manage incoming calls by providing information on SNAP and other food assistance programs as needed.
Coordinate SNAP outreach services with related Food Bank of South Jersey programs and other partner efforts.
Represent the Food Bank of South Jersey at community meetings and events through networking, public relations, and speaking engagements as needed.
Enter and track data for NJ SNAP monthly reporting.
Attend required meetings and trainings conducted by NJ SNAP.
Coordinate regularly with Marketing, Communications, and Advocacy teams to ensure SNAP Outreach work is effectively promoted.
Organize records, files, and spreadsheets on the SNAP program and related projects as needed.
Adhere to protocols regarding security and confidentiality to protect personal client information.
Maintain current knowledge and understanding of the SNAP application process.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
Highly organized, flexible, adaptable, and able to multi-task
Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish
Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed during a 35-hour work week
Ability to work outside in all seasons
Ability to travel throughout Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Salem counties to promote SNAP and provide SNAP application assistance.
Independent worker, self-starter and works well with a team and on their own
Excellent proficiency in using Zoom, Teams, and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint
Detail oriented, excellent record keeping and time management skills
Strong customer service skills
Comfortable working with and can effectively communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and opinions
Ability to safely transfer 35 pounds
Qualifications and Education:
High school diploma or GED required
Bilingual English/Spanish (written and spoken) required
Clean driver’s license required
Ability to work off-site at outdoor outreach events required
Ability to carry and transport equipment and supplies required
Experience working with diverse groups required
Experience in direct service within social or human service organizations preferred
Experience working in food insecurity or related non-profit environment preferred
Experience working in communication, telemarketing, or marketing preferred
Volunteer management experience preferred
